O.M.G. Burger & Beer Pairing

This week we’ve paired our best-selling housemade burger patty, the OMG burger, with locally made Valley Ford Grazin’ Girl Blue – and let me tell you, YUM! For true burger nivana, pair your creation with Deschutes Brewery Obsidian Stout. The robust, roasty beer has just enough hoppy bite to cut the richness in this epic dish.

  • Serves: 2-4 servings
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2- or 4-pack of O.M.G. Burger Patties from the Oliver's Meat Department
  • 4oz. Valley Ford Grazin' Girl Blue
  • 4 hamburger, brioche or ciabatta buns
  • Sliced tomato, onion and lettice for serving
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Grab a cast iron skillet, or other heavy bottomed skillet, and heat over medium-high.

  2. Remove the OMG Burger Patties from the packaging. Using your hands, press and flatten out each patty until they are slightly larger than your burger buns (they will shrink slightly when cooked). Using your thumb make a slight indentation in the center of the patty to help keep it flat while it cooks.

  3. When your pan is very hot, but not smoking, add the burger patties, being careful to not overcrowd the pan. Once the burgers are in the pan set a timer for 5 minutes and don't touch the burgers. When the timer goes off, flip all burgers and set another timer for 4 minutes. During this 4 minutes top each burger with 1 (or more!) ounces of blue cheese and let warm up while the patty continues to cook. Toast your buns while the burgers are cooking. Once the timer goes off remove the burgers from heat and let stand for a few minutes while you finish get the buns ready.

  4. Dress each burger bun with mayonnaise, if desired then top with the burger, onion, lettuce and tomato. Devour immediately and enjoy with a cold Deschutes Obsidian Stout!
