Corporate – Craft Beer Specialist

Summary: As the Corporate Beer Specialist, your role will be to facilitate the reviewing, selection and purchase of new craft beer products. You will be responsible for following trends in all facets of media for the craft beer industry, seek out new breweries in the craft beer market and create a culture that promotes Oliver’s Market as the exciting, cutting edge destination for craft beer enthusiasts. The Craft Beer Specialist will also be responsible for coordinating all events and beers for Windsor’s Tavern off the Green and Cotati’s beer tasting as well as supporting the store level departments on a daily basis. The position require you to be available to assist in the Wine & Spirits department at the stores during prime selling times when necessary. You must be at least 21 years of age.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create a culture making Oliver’s Market the “Best Place to buy Craft Beer”
  • Collaborate and maintain communication with the Corporate Liquor Buyer to discuss all new items and ensure seamless communication with Point of Sale Manager.
  • Work at Beer related events in the stores; Tavern tastings and releases, Cotati tastings, etc.
  • Provide content for and maintain beer rating POS/shelf talkers.
  • Create product descriptions and provide beer related content for the quarterly newsletter and REV program (Real Everyday Values).
  • On a weekly basis, provide the Marketing Department with content for social media platforms; blogs’ photographs and video.
  • Process all related invoices and paperwork.
  • Meet with key beer vendors; Columbia, Morris, Eagle, Wine Warehouse, Southern and independent Beer Companies and breweries with a strong focus on Local.
  • Facilitate all ordering from small independent distributors, local breweries, and supplier direct distributors and bulk beer buys for the warehouse.
  • Make quick and rational purchasing decisions when new items emerge.
  • Build and maintain vendor relations to develop buying power, strategic planning and purchasing.
  • Assist Corporate Liquor Buyer with weekly beer planning and post off sheets.
  • Price and submit all new items and price changes to the POS Department.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the designated craft beer point person in each store to ensure continuity within the sets and facilitate resets when necessary.
  • Manage all facets of Oliver’s Own private label beer program including managing inventory, communication with Brewer, re-orders, and product development.
  • Detailed attention to current trend with special consideration of price, style and packaging of items to ensure a good fit for sets.
  • Manage beer sets in all four locations and provide ongoing maintenance of the sets; ensuring that under-performers are removed from the set and new arrivals are introduced quickly.
  • Assist stores with display planning and building of beer related promotional displays.
  • Support each stores wine/beer department one day each week while performing all duties and responsibilities of the Wine Clerk 2 in each of the four locations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by manager.

Customer Service –Front End Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of a Checker
  • Act as a liaison between staff ans management
  • Support the Front End Manager with all department functions as well as keeping them ans the Front End staff informed of all events that may affect the Front End
  • Assist in development and training of new employees
  • Field customer comments and complaints and follow through for customer satisfaction
  • Direct work of Checkers and Utility Clerks as well as their break and lunch periods so as to ensure the break schedule is followed
  • Handle safe and money loans/pulls, authorize credit card and check transactions, maintain accurate cash drawer setup funds, and process and approve returns, exchanges, credits, overrides, etc.
  • Maintain accurate retail pricing and accurate signage
  • Complete gift card sales to customers when required
  • Open and close the department and store according to standard procedures

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds regularly

Deli Department – Deli Lead, Front of House

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • The employee must be able to reach above and below shoulders to access items in cabinets, shelves, and cases and on racks
  • The employee must be able to work around heavy kitchen equipment and machinery such as but not limited to: slicers, hot bar, salad bar, mixers, fryer, stoves, ovens, steamer and dishwasher

Store Level – Wine Department Manager

Position Overview:

As the Wine Department Manager you are expected to control all activities that support the wine departments growth and profitability. Specifically, you are directly responsible for scheduling, personnel management, merchandise procurement, gross margin management, merchandising and quality standards, customer and safety and sanitation in the wine department. You are expected to conduct the business of the department under the leadership of the store director and in coordination with the wine and spirits buyer who will consult with you in the ares of merchandise procurement, merchandising strategies, inventory control, sanitation, salesmanship, and quality control. You are responsible for all communication and administration necessary for the successful completion of your duties. Your job duties will also include any additional duties deemed appropriate by the store director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum 3 plus years Beer, Wine and Spirits retail experience
  • Minimum 21 year old
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Wine, Beer, Spirits and Food Pairings
