Homemade Magic Shell

An easy recipe for homemade magic shell with just two ingredients. The perfect topping for almost any ice cream!

  • 1 cup (190 grams) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 TBSP coconut oil (measured when solid)


  1. Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 20-30 second increments, making sure to stir very well after each increment, until completely melted and smooth.

  2. Allow to cool for a few minutes, then top on ice cream of choice.

  3. NOTES: Servings: This recipe will make 3/4 cup of magic shell, which serves about 4-6 people.
    Storage instructions: Store in an airtight container at room temperature, stir well before topping on ice cream again.

  4. Baking Tip: Swap out the semi-sweet chocolate chips for any flavored baking chip for a fun flavored topping!
