Local Summer Flavors from Oliver’s Market

At Oliver’s Market, being a local business is very important to us, as is supporting the hundreds of local businesses from all over Sonoma County. This week, we’re highlighting not only some of our favorite local partners and products that we’ve come to know and love over the years, but also the many benefits to our community that come with supporting these companies.

Let’s be honest: Shopping for local products in Sonoma County is not a hard assignment! From the day we first opened our doors, we’ve built our business on the simple premise that the best food and wine in the world are produced here, in Sonoma County. As a Sonoma County business, we’ve built enduring relationships with local growers, makers and manufacturers because they make the foods and wines we love to eat and drink.

This week, we’re celebrating some of our favorite local producers and their summer bounty with special pricing. Stroll through our aisles to discover the season’s best vibrant, organic fruits and vegetables sourced from nearby farms, perfect for creating refreshing salads and fruity desserts. Indulge in locally sourced meat and seafood, a perfect match for the grill. Explore our selection of artisanal cheeses, crafted with passion by talented local cheese makers. Pair these sumptuous culinary delights with a curated collection of local wines, beers and ciders, and create an edible tableau of Sonoma County’s finest summer offerings. Oliver’s Market, bringing the best of Sonoma County to your table.

What’s being featured, you ask? How about Rocky Free Range Chicken, or Valley Ford Creamery and Wm Cofield cheeses? Or maybe something from Oliver’s Bakery or Deli? Alec’s Ice cream, Miyoko’s, Bachan’s sauces, Alvarado Street bread– they are all locally made, delicious, and in the ad this week, and the list goes on! On the beverage side of things, you will find Lagunitas, Martin Ray, Balletto, Iron Ox, and Seismic, along with many other great buys.

Defining Local

When we say a product is local, that means it comes from only Sonoma County. Period. Some national chains consider local to mean “anywhere in California,” or within a seven-hour truck ride to their warehouse. When you look at a business from a statewide or national perspective, it’s easy to see that local means something totally different to others. At Oliver’s, Local Means Sonoma County, plain and simple.

Why Local Matters

Along with local products being excellent choices for taste and quality reasons, buying locally also improves our local economy. The dollars you spend at local retailers buying local products supports other local businesses too! Studies have shown that a dollar spent at a local retailer, like Oliver’s, can impact the local economy more than twice as many times as a dollar spent at one of the national supermarket chains. You can make a difference for our local community every time you shop, because more of your dollar stays here, improving things such as roads and parks, as well as creating more jobs in the community. Our Commitment to Local

At Oliver’s, we are committed to supporting the local economy by carrying the largest possible selection of locally produced products in Sonoma County, all at the best prices we can offer. Up and down every aisle, we’ve clearly marked over 6,000 Sonoma County products with a “Made Local” circle. Our store receipts also show how much of your purchase comes from products that are made right here in Sonoma County. At Oliver’s, we’re doing everything we can to be your local supermarket, as well as supporting the community that makes Sonoma County such a wonderful place to eat, drink, live and work.

Thanks to you, it really does pay to shop local because when you support us, we support them.
