Where “Local” Means Sonoma County: Our Favorite Locally Made Oliver’s Own Products

When we say “shop like a local”, we mean it! Since opening our doors, Oliver’s has been striving to support our Sonoma County community by promoting talented local artisans and the fabulous products they create. From locally made beauty to locally grown fruits and veggies, we’ve woven Sonoma County into the fabric of our mission, and recently, we made it official by becoming a certified Social Purpose Corporation. This week, we’re shining a light on some of our favorite locally made products: our own! So local that we make them in-house, we’ve slashed prices on the Oliver’s Own products that exemplify everything we love best about living in Sonoma County. Check them out, and start eating like a local today!

We just can’t hide it any longer: we LOVE Sonoma County! I mean, we weren’t really hiding it, but in case you had any doubts, we. Love. This. COUNTY! Where else can you get such a stunning combination of gorgeous natural scenery, genuinely friendly people, and world-class food and wine? Only right here, baby! Oliver’s has always been a big fan of all things Sonoma County, and we’ve always made it a point to keep Sonoma County at the center of everything we do. In fact, we’re so passionate about our community that, recently, we made it official. Oliver’s Market is now a certified Social Purpose Corporation, and we’re super excited about it!

So, what IS a social purpose corporation? Basically, we pick a platform that we believe in and then make sure that everything we do links back to that platform in some way. In our case, we decided to make a commitment to our community and the environment, first by becoming a certified Green Corporation (to read more about sustainability at Oliver’s, click here) and second by promoting local businesses at every available opportunity. While the certification may be new, these are all values we’ve held near and dear to our hearts since we opened – the only difference is that now it’s official! You may not know it, but every time you shop with Oliver’s, you’re supporting not just us but over 400 local companies as well. In turn, those companies are able to grow and thrive, hiring more employees and growing our local economy. In fact, through this cycle of community support, we have collectively generated over 15,000 local jobs. Now that’s working with your community!

We are proud to boast over 6,000 local products on our shelves, and we are even more proud to include many of our Oliver’s Own products in that number. We love our products and the people who make them, and every item we stamp with our name comes with the expertise and dedication of the team that produced it. Oliver’s is truly dedicated to producing and promoting the very best Sonoma County has to offer. This week, we’ve gone through our Oliver’s Own archives and pulled some of the deli and bakery products we think best represent our special connection to Sonoma County. Some of these bad boys are brand new while others are our tried-and-true favorites – regardless, they’re all made in our very own kitchens right here in Sonoma County. Can’t get more local than that!

Oliver’s Own Gluten Free Cookies

($6.99/ea; 11 oz. Package, Selected Varieties)

We love making cookies so much here at Oliver’s that we added a whole line of Gluten-Free cookies! Enjoy Lemon Sugar, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Cranberry Walnut and the classic Chocolate Chip, each SO GOOD that you won’t notice or even care that they’re gluten-free! Lip-smackingly moist, chewy and delicious.

Oliver’s Own Fudge Top Brownies

($6.99/ea, 2 lb. Package)

Our Fudge Top Brownies are a staff favorite! Rich, chocolatey and iced with creamy fudge icing, they can be cut into large or small pieces, depending on your crowd or your conscience. Great with a cup of coffee or a cold glass of milk.

Oliver’s Own Kalamata Olive Focaccia Bread

($7.99/ea, 18 oz. Loaf)

We are very excited about our brand-new Kalamata Olive Focaccia. Loaded with luscious, full-flavored kalamatas and supple with extra virgin olive oil, this bread is spectacular paired with soft cheeses and cured meats, or an elegant accompaniment to a bowl of soup or tossed salad.

Oliver’s Own Town Green Panini

($7.99/ea, hot or cold)

This is a wonderful sandwich. We serve this on our House-made Focaccia Bread. Our commissary bakery makes this bread fresh for the deli. We use Local Zoe’s Garlic Herb Turkey, an herbed Mozzarella cheese, and our house-made Oliver’s Own Herb Aioli, topped off with some fresh spring mix. This sandwich is very underrated. It’s a wonderful combination of local items.

Oliver’s Own Asparagus Risotto Cakes

($3.49/ea)

Our risotto cakes are a staple in the chef’s case. We change them seasonally. The Asparagus is one of the most popular favorites. They make a great addition to any meal. One of my favorite uses came from a customer’s suggestion. This customer takes them home, cuts them in half and sears them in a pan. He then uses the risotto cake as a base for his Eggs Benedict. So, instead of the muffin he uses the risotto cake. It is a really good switch for a breakfast classic.

Oliver’s Own Pizza Dough

($2.99/ea)

Our Pizza Dough is one of those items the whole family will love. You can have a lot of fun getting the kids into the kitchen and letting them help build their own pizza. We make this item by hand in our commissary kitchen at the Stony Point location. You can make great pizza, or some really fantastic bread sticks with the dough. Brush them with a little Olive Oil and top with some Garlic and Parmesan cheese. Yummy & really quite easy.
