Take these cookies up a notch with this super easy royal icing recipe.
- Serves: 24 cookies, depending on cookie cuter size
- Prep Time: 15 minutes, 1 hour for chill time
- Cook Time: 6-8 minutes
- 1 1/2c. butter, softened
- 2c. white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1tsp. vanilla extract
- 5c. all-purpose flour
- 2tsp. baking powder
- 1tsp. salt
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400 degrees(F). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/2 - 1" thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter.
Place cookies 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven.
Cool completely and decorate as desired!
