  • Serves: 4-6 servings
  • Prep Time: 1 hour-Overnight
  • Cook Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Bakerly Brioche Bread
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 1 c. Light Cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 4 tbsp. Unsalted Butter, divided
  • 1 c. Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 c. Powdered Sugar
  • 4-6 tbsp. Milk

Instructions

  1. Use 2 tablespoons of butter to thoroughly butter a 1 quart casserole dish, and cut Bakerly Brioche bread in 1 inch cubes; set both aside until needed. If possible, cover bread loosely and leave out for 4 to 6 hours or until it becomes slightly stale. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and cream until well mixed, then whisk in cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Continue whisking until sugar has dissolved, then set aside.

  2. Layer half of the cubed brioche in the bottom of the prepared casserole dish, then pour half of the custard over the cubes. Gently press and nudge bread cubes so that each can soak in the custard; repeat with remaining bread and custard. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or preferably overnight.

  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Break remaining 2 tablespoons of butter into chunks and distribute around top of casserole. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour or until a sharp knife inserted in the center comes out clean. While casserole is baking, mix together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth. Allow bake to cool slightly before serving; top with cream cheese drizzle or warm maple syrup.
