Winter Brews to Cure those Winter Blues

The holiday season is upon us, and here at Oliver’s, we think that limited edition winter brews are a great way to take off the chill and celebrate the season. We’ve picked our favorite seasonal winter beers to get you through the holiday season that much easier. These beers double as host/hostess gifts, for the beer connoisseur, or a tasty gift for yourself!

Lagunitas Brown Shugga’ Ale– This beer is a local favorite. We wait all year for this seasonal release; one sweet sip, and you’ll know why. Pair this delicious brew with any holiday treats made with pumpkin-spice. OR, make your own Brown Shugga’ Candied Yams, courtesy of Lagunitas!

Anchor Steam Christmas Ale- Talk about a coveted beer… Anchor Steam has been producing this seasonal favorite for 43 years! Holy cow… that’s some serious beer. It’s sold only from November to mid-January, so get it while you can! This beer comes in a 750ml. bottle, so it makes the perfect gift. Just add a red bow and you’ve got the best gift at the party.

Cascade Lakes Slippery Slope– A truly tasty winter ale. Slippery slope is one smooth, wintery ride. Made using crystal malt and generous amounts of Cascade hops, this is a well-balanced seasonal ale. Whether your slippery slope is a mountain or sidewalk, this ale makes an excellent companion.

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale- First brewed in 1981, Celebration Ale is one of the earliest examples of an American-style IPA and one of the few hop-forward holiday beers. Famous for its intense citrus and pine aromas, Celebration is bold and intense, featuring Cascade, Centennial and Chinook hops—honoring everything they have at Sierra Nevada. Pairs deliciously with fish & chips, roasted turkey with dressing, or Parmagiano Reggiano and Manchego cheeses.

Port Brewing Co. Santa’s Little Helper- And what a helper it is! Santa knows who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. This is one seriously naughty-but-nice beer. This Imperial Stout has an emphasis on dark cocoa and roasted coffee aromatics. The ultimate accompaniment to leftover fruit cake and sugar cookies.

Avec Les Bons Voeux Brasserie Dupont-Les Bons Voeux” means best wishes, which is what Brasserie Dupont sends with this very special saison ale brewed for the holidays. Redolently aromatic, rich and velvety. The deep malt richness lingers on your tongue for what seems the whole holiday season. So, Les Bons Voeux!
