Oliver’s Cheesemongers’ picks for Father’s Day!

To help celebrate all things “DAD”, here are some delicious ways to treat him royally on Sunday, June 15th.

From Stony Point, Kathryn Sterngold says, “Top a barbequed grass-fed burger with Cypress Grove’s Herbs de Humboldt Chevre and enjoy with a cold glass of Red Rocket Ale from Healdsburg’s Bear Republic for your Father’s Day meal.  Enjoy a grand celebration of NorCal flavors.”

Jacob Kelley, also from Stony Point is enthusiastic about Stilton.  He shares, “Stilton offers diversity without compromising taste.  Its strong full flavor compliments a variety of summer dishes.  Deep and savory notes pair well with a grilled steak – consider a light crumble on top!  Also its mellow and fruity notes compliment my favorite salad – greens tossed with cranberries, pecans and blue cheese.  This cheese’s versatility makes it a perfect pick for nearly all summer dishes, adding a desirable bite, without overpowering any accompanying flavors.”

From Cotati, Heather Schoneman and Wade Johnson went straight to salami and cheese pairing for their Father’s Day picks.

Heather suggests, “Olli’s Organic Molisana Pepper and Garlic Salame and Beemster Goat Gouda form a deliciously savory combo that will stay on your mind all day with just one bite.  Enjoy with a refreshing wheat beer!

Wade recommends “Fra’Mani Salametto Piccante with Cave-Aged Gruyere.  For no rhyme or reason – simply delicious.”

Jan Barrett, Montecito cheesemonger says, “I love, love, love La Tur soft-ripened cheese from Piedmont, Italy.  With its perfect balance of cow, sheep and goat’s milks and a tender, wrinkled rind enclosing a soft, fluffy interior, it is the sweetest little mouthful of multi-dimensional perfection that I have ever tasted. Pair with a light red wine from Piedmont, a sparkling Italian or a Sauvignon Blanc.  Bellissimo!
