A group of Oliver’s managers recently had the opportunity to visit McEvoy Ranch in Petaluma for a day of education and tasting.
The 550 acre ranch, located on the western outskirts of Petaluma was previously a dairy farm, but owner Nan McEvoy’s love of Tuscan olive oil brought her to the vision of growing olives and producing a high quality olive oil on the property.
McEvoy, who hails from the DeYoung family of San Francisco, met with Italian olive oil expert Maurizio Castelli, and the rest, as they say, is history. 80 acres of olives are now cross farmed with ten acres of vineyards planted to Pinot Noir, Syrah, Montepulciano, Grenache and Viognier.
Nan McEvoy passed away in 2015, but her son Nion McEvoy is now entrusted with running the ranch and continuing the legacy. McEvoy Ranch is now a B Corporation that includes a collection of award-winning California Olive Oil Council certified organic extra virgin olive oils, a line of body care products called 80 Acre Body Care, a small line of delicious food products, and now McEvoy Ranch wine.
