Bakery Assistant Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in all aspects of a bakery or equivalent culinary training
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Posses or ability to secure a Managers Food Safety Certificate
  • Bakery product knowledge
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to learn, understand and uphold Oliver’s Market policies and procedures including safety, wellness and sustainability
  • Excellent kitchen skills including knife handling, equipment operation and safety procedures during food prep, baking and clean-up
  • Adhere to and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment
  • Facilitate training of new employees and development
  • Assist the manager in daily operations and quality control to maintain standards and achieve targeted sales
  • Perform all job duties: customer service, checking, morning bake, barista, juice bar, production, cake decorating, etc.
  • Leadership, mentoring, staff training and staff direction in the absence of department manager

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 15 pounds regularly
  • Must be able to work with flour, fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts
  • Demonstrated ability in knife handling, other cutting equipment and safety procedures
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Able to stand on feet for long periods of the day
