Our Wine departments offer thousands of labels at any price point. Each of our Wine departments is staffed daily with passionate, trained specialists who can help you pick out the perfect wine for any occasion and any budget.

Name & Store Biography

Richard Williams,

Wine Buyer

Wine and Spirits buyer for Oliver’s Markets. He has been in the retail world for 35 years and has been both store manager and wine buyer for many fine Northern California stores. His travels have taken him to Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific. He has a passion for fine food and wine, and considers them inseparable partners.

Stephen Thomas,
Cotati

A graduate from Sonoma State University with a Wine Business Degree Stephen enjoys working in the wine department as a wine specialist. While he is not at the store you might find him student teaching History at the local junior high school while he is finishing up his teaching credential at Dominican University. Stephen enjoys spending time and drinking wine with his wife and friends as well as his two dogs.

Matt Rice,
Montecito

After he graduated from Chico State in 2006, Matt found himself working in the wine industry. Once he was part of this world, Matt realized that wine was going to be a part of his life. Matt, with Oliver’s since 2006, especially loves his Cabernet Francs and the world of Zins.

Kristine Greene,
Stony Point

Kristine grew up in Mendocino County, (5th generation), and started her career with Oliver’s in the Cheese department. She feels that since they go so well together, moving to the Wine Department was a logical step. She enjoys food, wine, and travel, and spending free time with her husband and two dogs.

Justin Bowman,
Cotati

Justin is no stranger to the local wine scene, starting at Oliver's in 2009, after he spent five years as Wine Buyer for the Sebastopol Whole Foods. A Sebastopol native, he loves Volleyball, Snowboarding, & Baseball. He’s a fan of Dry Creek Zin, Russian River Pinot, Napa Cab, and Dry Gewurztraminer.

David Riley,
Stony Point

Having worked in many other capacities with Oliver’s over the past 16 years, David’s home is the Wine department. He loves to cook and especially enjoys pairing wines and food and savoring the results. Just ask him about his pork roast!
